Regulation of assistance for travel for healthcare purposes, as well as accommodation and meals for patients and, where applicable, their companions, when travelling to receive healthcare at a centre located in a different town from their place of residence using non-medical transport.
In the case of travel by non-medical transport on the same day, assistance for meals for patients shall be governed by the same requirements and conditions as in the case of travel by non-medical transport.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Patients:
Have the right to healthcare recognised by the National Social Security Institute and Sacyl Health Card.
Travel for healthcare purposes.
The healthcare received at the centre to which they are travelling must have been duly indicated by the doctor responsible for their care and, where applicable, authorised and channelled by the Healthcare Management or Area Health Management, depending on whether it is an intra-provincial or inter-provincial trip.
In order to be eligible for assistance, patients must, in addition to the above, meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Be under 18 years of age.
- Have a recognised disability of 66% or more.
- Be in a situation of dependency, at least at level II.
- Be a cancer patient who has to travel to receive healthcare related to the cancer process.
- Be a patient on the waiting list for a transplant and/or a transplant recipient who has to travel to receive healthcare related to the transplant process.
- Be a recipient of social integration income, non-contributory pensions or be unemployed and have exhausted your right to receive unemployment benefit for as long as your situation persists.
- Have an income level, as stated in the general taxable base and savings box of the personal income tax return, of less than €18,000 per year.
Accompanying persons:
- For patients under 18 years of age.
- For patients who, due to their clinical condition, require an accompanying person and this need is indicated by the doctor or authorised by the Management.
Furthermore, a ‘special regime’ of assistance is established for cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment.

WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED?
The APPLICATION form must be completed and accompanied by the following DOCUMENTATION:
- Document certifying the representative's title.
- Proof of travel by aeroplane.
- Tickets proving the use of regular public transport by the accompanying person.
In addition, where applicable, the following documentation must be submitted, unless the applicant authorises the Administration to consult it:
- Photocopy of the patient's Individual Health Card.
- Photocopy of the applicant's National Identity Card, provided that they are not the patient.
- Photocopy of the document certifying the patient's degree of disability as equal to or greater than 66%.
- Photocopy of the document certifying the patient's recognised dependency status as at least grade II.
- Photocopy of the receipt from the centre where the patient was treated, stating the days during which healthcare was provided and the type of care, whether for consultation or hospital admission, in the latter case indicating the date of admission and discharge.

notification system.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- An appeal may be lodged against the decision to grant or deny the aid before the President of the Regional Health Authority in the case of Healthcare Authorities or before the Managing Director of the Regional Health Authority in the case of Area Health Authorities.
- The aid is paid by bank transfer to the account specified in the corresponding application.
