Description:

UPDATE DATE: 2024/11/26

SDG CODE: Section E1, Subsection Education System - Adult Learning

This page aims to inform about adult education in Castilla y León, as well as about all related aspects.

Adult education helps adults to acquire, update, complete or broaden their knowledge, favouring lifelong learning.

It offers the possibility of acquiring basic skills and, where appropriate, the corresponding qualifications, facilitating access to compulsory secondary education or equivalent for young people who left school early and for adults who wish to continue their learning.

It allows immigrants who arrive in our Community without studies or without knowledge of Spanish the possibility of training in different fields.

It also enables adults to acquire new skills for their professional and personal development.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

In Castilla y León it is the responsibility of the Consejería de Educación, which carries out a decentralised management at provincial level, through the 9 Direcciones Provinciales de Educación.

In general, people over 18 years of age or those who will be 18 years of age in the year in which the school year begins may enrol in adult education.

Exceptionally, those over 16 years of age who request it and who are in any of the following circumstances may attend adult education:

  • They have an employment contract that does not allow them to attend ordinary education centres.
  • They are high-performance sportsmen and women.
